DESCRIPTION: \nLocation\n470A South Avenue\nSpruce Grove, AB\nThe Red Cross Intermediate (formerly Standard) First Aid training program combines online theory learning (self-paced) with a hands-on, in-class practical skills session. Providing a fun and comprehensive Intermediate First Aid certification, including CPR and AED training, all while allowing flexibility with the online portion done at your own pace; essentially, you study theory online before attending a practical skills session to complete the course. This first aid course covers everything from life-threatening emergencies to minor bumps and scrapes and is recognized by Alberta OHS.\nThe date that you choose is the date of the in-class session.  The online modules must be completed PRIOR to attending the in-class session.  You will not be permitted to attend without completion of the online component, as it covers majority of the theory based knowledge required to complete the in-person session activities.\nYour certificate will not be issued until both components are successfully completed.\nThe topics covered in this course include:\n\nThe Red Cross\nPreparing to respond\nThe EMS system\nCheck, Call, Care\nAirway emergencies\nBreathing and Circulation emergencies\nFirst aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest\nWound care\nHead and spine injuries\nBone, muscle and joint injuries\nSudden Medical Emergencies\nEnvironmental Emergencies\nPoisons (includes opioid poisoning)\n\n*This level of First Aid Certification is most commonly required by employers.\nDuration: 6-8 hours online learning, 6-8 hours teaching time.\nCertification: 3-year certification in Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid with CPR/AED (Level C)\nA permanent virtual certificate will be emailed to you upon successfully completing the course.\nYou will also be able to view your manual and certification online at any time through your MyRedCross account. Certification is valid for 3 years.\nCost: $130.00\n \n \n \nWorking in BC?  \nThe Workplace Emergency First Aid (WEFA) course is approved by WorkSafe BC. This self-study course is completed after taking the pre-requisite course: Intermediate (Standard) First Aid/CPR or Basic (Emergency) First Aid.  The WEFA certificate is equivalent to the BC Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certificate.\nThe Canadian Red Cross issues your certificate which is valid for up to 3 years*.\n*Please note that the date of issuance and expiry date illustrated on your WEFA certificate will correspond to the dates entered on your Intermediate (Standard) or Basic (Emergency) First Aid certificate.\nAdditional Cost: $40.00\n*You can pick up your WEFA (BC) package at the front desk when you attend your course.\n
